Bejeweled Meets Chuzzle

This is what I started playing last Tuesday. In about 3 hours of play I defeated 3 out of the 5 bosses, then I got stuck. Each level requires you to capture a minimum number of pokemon that up to the level I reached is now 350, with the additional difficulty that the boss tosses unusable balls into your screen to mess up the combinations you're trying to set up.

A week later and I haven't crossed that barrier yet.

Consistency Please

There are people who are in love with titles and formality (which is a reason why secret societies like in the movie The Skulls exist) but only on their own terms. What makes this so sad is that after they have gotten themselves into the public positions that they want, they lose all this sense of process, and manipulate the need for informal (or under the table) talks to push their own agenda.

Either everybody has to fall in line all the time or no one has to.

That's Technology

Because of the institutional workshop last Friday to yesterday, I wasn't able to attend the course card distribution of my graduate studies last April 18.

In any other universe, I would have had to wait until today to go to that campus and look for my course cards among the piles discarded by those who were there last Friday.

But I don't live in that universe. I live in the one where I could go online before Monday and get to check my grades and not lose any sleep worrying.

After all, In Computer Architecture, I needed 76% in the finals to get a grade of 2.0 - the passing. So it's a great feeling I want to share here that I got high enough in the finals to raise that to three-point-oh!

P.S. Read between the lines as to what I'm complaining about...

Pet Peeve #2

Will I be doing a whole series of these in the next few posts? I hope not.

This one was definitely triggered by something that happened last night. It was a solemn moment, everyone wanted to hear how other people would pay tribute to Doc A, and you. Just. Won't. Shut. Up!

You have a grating voice that carries farther than you know (at last I hope you don't know, otherwise, it's just pathetic) and you can't let someone else be the center of attention for once, even though it's supposed to be their night.

And while we're on the subject, when Doc A talked about the people who put forth the extra effort to benefit the students and said he won't mention any names, don't delude yourself. He wasn't talking about you.

Perennial Pet Peeve

I was just reminded of this because of Boogsy's recent post, and the fact that the picture I found is so appropriate, not that this person has inflicted himself on me recently.

Ultra-Violent

I finally got to watch Ultraviolet last night. Maybe I shouldn't have, but at least it's off my video backlog.

It was trying to be Aeon Flux, Underworld, Resident Evil and Equilibrium all at the same time, which isn't surprising since the people involved here are the same people who came from those projects.

There were also some cool 300 like lines, such as one about killing 700 soldiers, but for the most part, it wasn't shown, which was a cop-out.

You have one girl with a virus sometimes called a vampire with superhuman reflexes who fights ordinary humans, and we're supposed to take it for granted so much that we'll just watch the other movies where it's shown, and you skip through it here instead.

Bad, very bad.

Latest Book Purchase

I currently have about half a dozen books of his in my backlog, including the audio book for lost boy, lost girl.

I hope to be able to use this summer to trim that number down, if not bring it to zero completely.

I actually have some Stephen King titles there too, but he's not as good for me as he once was in his early books.
